I saw my first adder this year today (18/02/2007) at Allerthorpe Common (nr. York). I went there last weekend and saw none. When I arrived there were a group of people there that had been looking but had not found any... lucky me! and I even got a pic:

I saw my first one of the year too, and my first ever! at Allerthorpe Common in North Yorkshire (1st March)

Great! I can't even imagine one hanging about so obligingly... I found this one, which kept shooting down a hole. So I lay on my belly waiting for it to reappear... turned out quite well; he's checking the air to see if i'm still about!!
