Hello, As a keen amateur herpetologist and photographer i am keen to photograph our native herps, i am also very interested in some of the introduced specie too. I have herd that there is a colony of Wall lizards (Podacris muralis)living in Farnham castle, Surrey. Does anybody know the status of this colony.

Posted: 16 Jul 2003 Topic: European pond tortoise Emys orbicularis

Hi

Does anyone out there no about the status of the European pond tortoise in southern England. There were rumours of it being found breeding at frencham ponds some years back. i know that it is a very long lived species, so i guess colonies could exist for many years without actually breeding. But does anybody have any up to date info?

Hi Martin,

Yes i have seen the red eared terrapins too!! even saw quite a few in ponds on a recent trip to Brittany, i wonder if they can breed in the warmer parts of Europe?

Cheers, Fairbrass

Hi Folks

Does anybody out there know the status of hyla arborea in the UK, is the colony in the New Forest still going strong. Also are the green frogs likely to be added to the British lists as they seem pretty fimly established, like wise with the midwife toad.

Cheers, Fairbrass
