Yeah, it was a full grown adult, 30cm long, large claws, long-ish tail. I think it was a male... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

That's why a true albino has pink or res eyes, it's the colour of their blood showing through probably, I don't know, but can't think of what else it could be... Open to suggestions... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

It'd be good owning a reptile shop, but there's a lot of responsibility involved, and I personally prefer photographing them and Snowboarding...(come on, 20th Feb, Andorra)... Cant wait... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

I'm expecting to see some on the Spanish roads, as I have heard too much that Spanish drivers swerve to hit these gorgeous animals... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

I'm not sure what kind of frog that is, but i'm sure that netting will keep it out. Last year in an effort to protect her strawberrys my mum put netting over them, and managed to unwillingly catch Common Toads and a few unsuspecting Sparrows... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

I just compared it to sizes of things I know how big they were, like paper plates people were using for a picnic, about 1 and a half of those long. Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

I don't think there would've been a high amount of rodents for the Adders to feed on, mostly frogs, maybe a few Common Lizards... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

Very nice photos! I see your viviparous lizard has half a tail - a lot of the ones round me do as well, but i've no idea what's doing it! Even the two babies that I found a few days ago had little stumps for tails P.S. Probably my best Zl Pic... also looks to have a regenerated tail tip, from when it was a baby - otherwise, a perfect one!

Yes, I've noticed that as well - could it be that you just see more in Spain? I think that out of about 20 lizards at one place near me, only 2 or 3 have full tails... maybe birds, possibly dogs or perhaps tourist children! tourist: 'Look mummy, a snake!' me to myself: 'well, no actually you don't get snakes here - it's a slow worm' tourist: 'got him... AAAAAArrrggggghhhhhhhhh, MUMMY!!!!!!!' The slow worm dropped it's tail after being grabbed by it and the girl found out that 'snakes' bleed a lot when you squeeze them!!' When it's tourist seasn I find quite a few slow worms dead by the side of the road near a certain car park and also along some of the paths, all with very little tail..... I wonder what did that......... silly people.... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

I'm stuck up in rainy Cumbria - the dreaded tourist season during the summer months makes travel along narrow country lanes nearly impossible for me, but it's alright outside of it, because the roads to the lakes near me are deserted which makes them good for biking; with steep hills and sharp turns the fun never ends Concerning reptiles and school - there are some lizards at my school which are killed by a select few people who find it funny to set fire to them with lighters and to squash them in books ********! Unlucky Suzi - good news for me is that no cats live by the lake and no one ever takes a cat for a walk here either! I wish I had slow worms in my garden!!! Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

It's Ennerdale, so too far north for grass snakes, and no adders have ever been seen there as far as I know, just the two lizard species... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |
