Posted: 24 Jun 2008 ....found in a bunch of bananas. http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=18772 3&in_page_id=34#StartComments Quite obviously a smooth newt. A smooth newt appearing on a bunch of bananas is suspicious to say the least. Some astounding quotes from the above article; 'I rang Tesco headquarters and they said they would destroy him for me' That was very good of Tescos to offer. An RSPCA officer who collected Ned (edit; a smooth newt) could not identify the species but said he was a baby and not from Britain. At least we can rest assured that the experts are available to offer the benefit of their wisdom to the public. |

Posted: 25 Jun 2008 The RSPCA officer concerned could of course appear in court as an "expert witness" in a prosecution case the very next day. It just doesn`t bear thinking about. |

Posted: 24 Sep 2008 If its not fur nor feather then the RSPCA have not got a clue. I used to respect them but since I've found out how useless they really are in relation to herps David Hind Wildlife Trust (Cumbria) - Member Solway AONB - Volunteer |
