Greetings, I am new on this forum, and have only been in the UK for 4 years. I saw my first adder last week in the mendips near cheddar. Photo are attached. Could anyone tell me sex of this snake. Also how safe is it to tail an adder?

Hiya, and welcome to the UK.
The adder in your picture is a female . Males have a Black zig zag and grey/silver/off whitish body colour.

I wouldn't recommend tailing an adder without haviing someone who has done it a few times show you first.
