Started off really great at Turbary 10/06, in the morning.
Found a total of 18 adders, many were immatures, so was well pleased. The last area also revealed a female smooth snake, great. So photo ID'd, em all, and left about 1400. At 1630 they were all dead, some nice kids thought it would be fun to set fire to the heath.
Gemma has got some pics of snakes before and after, not very nice, but there you go.

I've put the after pictures as click to view, as some people may find them upsetting, I certainly did, depressing stuff Tony.

What's really depressing is that this is just the start of another long, hot summer. So can can probably expect more of the same :(

As someone who has spent a lot of time looking for snakes in the wild and still never seen one I find this really sad.

That is the saddest thing I have ever seen, it sickens me to hear stories such as this.
