The weather looked good today with only a mild breeze so I went to local site and came across my first one this year.

Lovely weekend up here in sunny Blackpool the whole world and his dog came to have a look at this ferry that is stuck on the beach.

Checked out the sand dunes at Fleetwood on Saturday 09/02, air temp 9 degs sunny day no wind. Saw lots of hairy catapillers a few spiders, flies , a couple of ladybirds and one male common lizard , thats very early for this part of the world , he had lost his tail before going down for hibernation but this had obviously not had any adverse effects, sorry but didn't have my camera with me didn' expect to see anything. What was a little surprising was there were a few patches of sand close by that were quite warm to the touch but he would rarther bask on some dry grass, camoflage more important than a nice sun tan.

My son saw a common lizard on Skiddaw in Cumbria on Monday. He's been wandering the hills in the Lake District this week in shorts and has come back with a suntan!

I saw my first Common Lizard of the year this afternoon, in full sun but only 6C temperature.  It was basking at the base of a tree stump, amongst some litchen.  It had a distinctly greenish body, browner head and brown tail (regrown?).

Nice lizard pix. The top one seems quite green. Possibly more so in the flesh than appears on the pic.

at least half of the males on whitwell moor have a greenish hue in my experience, some of them very green indeed. this weekend promises some much milder conditions up here with good sunny spells so i may pay the moors another visit

before i found this site, if someone had told me that one day soon i'd be photographing british lizards, in north staffordshire, in february i'd have thought they were nuts!!!

the third pic was taken while i was being dry-humped by a passing st bernard, which is why it isn't as good as it should be! the owner was very apologetic.
