Hi All How many people are involved with toad crossings in their county? I have recently moved to Alresford and there is a registered crossing in my town and I am planning to help take up the coordination of the crossing patrol - so I wanted to know how other people are doing with theirs and whether people would be interested in confirming registered sites in their local area Please email me Jcranfield@arg-uk.org.uk
Regards

Posted: 07 Feb 2007 Hi Mark The incoming cold weather has put a dampener on the activity of the toads - I am planning a get together at my local pub next week so we can all meet each other and go over our plan of action You know when the toads cross we need to patrol the two toad crossing sites - we need to go through health & safety issues, what we will be recording - temperatures, weather etc plus how many live toads rescued, any deaths etc So I can let you know when the crossings get going - probably later than 14th February - if you could help over a few evenings that would be cool

Posted: 21 Feb 2007 Last night we rescued over 40 toads which were migrating through Avington Park near Alresford, Hampshire. Many thanks to Sue, Gina, Cressida, Katie and Mark who were helping last night. We would still need more volunteers to help with our patrol so if anyone is around Winchester we would be pleased for people's help... Also I can order toad patrol high visibility vests for ARG UK affilated groups (see picture) If anyone who is helping with a toad patrol on behalf of an ARG who have signed up to the ARG UK insurance scheme (which covers toad patrols) then I can send you the above high vis which can be in three sizes - S, M and L Just pm for more info

Posted: 22 Feb 2008 I wish people were interested in helping frogs and toads in my local area (Keighley). Even my own mum won't come out with me and would prefer to watch telly. I wanted presents from lots of you. Snot fair that Ben Rigsby was the only one to send me Xmas & birthday presents. |
