Hi all,

Found a couple of shed skins a few weeks ago and tried to think how best to display them. Came up with this...

Putting them onto a canvas!
Not too hard, just soak the skin then cut down the middle of the ventral scales and it opens up pretty easily (although spreading it out is a bit fiddley - easier if you do it all underwater!). Let it dry, bit of paint around the edges and a coat of varnish - voila!

Just in case anyone has a load of skins they don't know what to do with!

Cheers.

I think that's probably the nicest display of sloughs I've seen .

Would certainly supplement displays of sloughs 'as found', which may be better for educational purposes, but don't look half as good.
