Posted: 26 Apr 2005 Found this snake in NE Ohio in lightly wooded area. It was ~2.5 feet long, 1.5 " wide. Didn't get a close look-didn't want to startle it during dinner. Can you ID it??? |

Posted: 07 Jun 2008 It is indeed an Eastern Garter Snake, Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis. @ djp_phillips There are (currently) 37 distinct Thamnophis species and a similar number of sub-species. James. |
