Posted: 18 Dec 2005 A friend of mine has shown me video film of a freshly dead (or possibly shamming dead) 2 foot+ Grass Snake he found in Cheshire in early December this year. It did not appear to be damaged in any way, and was lying on the grass close to a Sewage Works. Has anyone else found a Grass Snake as late in the year as this? I've sent the location and details to the County Recorder. Mike Brown

Posted: 20 Dec 2005 Found a dead baby grass snake in the third week of November at Wicken Fen (Cambridge) a couple of years ago. It was lying on the surface of some rough grass and appeared undamaged and fresh. There had been a hard frost the night before but why it wasn't hibernating I can't imagine. It was a young of the year. Suz |
