Hi All

I have just found this in my Kitchen!! under a rug...

I think it is a common lizard

Any help much appreciated

No it's a great crested newt (Triturus cristatus), probably looking for somewhere to hibernate.

As we need to release this little critter into suitable habitat - which is hopefully your garden

Hi Jon

what is considered suitable habitat for the new house guest? we have a house full of pets that may come across the new visitor!!   we live in a very rural area- surrounded by open farm land. what is your advice please?

If you can get a better picture of it first...slightly better focus, It'd be a lovely shot to stick on the new SARG website :P I'm looking for a nice clear shot of a cresty in terrestrial phase :P

Many thanks, those look pretty decent. The resolution as posted is more than adequate, I'll have a play and see if I can sort the slight over-exposure.
