Posted: 01 Jan 2005 Dunno, but I see they are already on dealers lists in the good old US. Same story with Bitis parviocula, if its unusual or rare you can bet it will be up for sale in a very short time. This causes concern for me re the SA dwarf adder species, some people are already trying to get my records (GPS data etc) re the southern adder and the red adder in the Wesern Cape. Have only been back in the Uk for a couple of days!!! I also see that the Cape cobra is on dealers lists for $2000. Don't quite understand, they are common and I handled and observed a good number in the last 3 months. Also, as far as I know ther are no permits being issued re the export of this species and many others; so the black market trade is alive and well. Especially brazen when advertised as wild caught. Posted: 01 Jan 2005 That is quite sickening! Why are people so selfish? We surely should be working hard to preserve these animals, and as per usual someone is trying to make a quick buck. |
