Am sorting photos for the adder (berus ) book.
Does anyone have a photo of exclusion fence in situ during an adder mitigation?

Also looking for variable habitat shots plus any unusual marked individuals.

Thanks

I had a trawl through my photos and came up with these taht you may be interested in.

This male is very blue in colour, and the zig-zag is very reduced and also interupted

Habitat of blue adder.  The snake was found next to a disused building at the edge of the rocky beach.

This photo shows a sea defence wall on Anglesey which is used as a hibernacula by adders and common lizards.  The photo was taken at the spring high tide.  The area behind the wall (under the water) is a sand dune system which the adders disperse into following emergence from hibernation.  The fact that the wall and the surrounding area is flooded on at least a yearly basis makes it surprising the adders can persist here at all.

Axel that first habitat shot would be useful, and that 'blue' male.

Cheers

I have more like this Tony. Sort of an adder mitigation, we only moved slow worms from the 'live' side of the fence. But plenty of adders on the slope that were excluded from the works area by the fencing.

I'm hoping to get to a 'supposed' adder site in Yorkshire in the next week, if I'm successful, I'll take some habitat shots.

Oh BTW Keith adders hibernate in the root system of those Rhodies!! But I guess they will come out at some stage, hope they treat them though, rather than uproot them.

Hi Tony,

another photo of the unusual green/grey and orange individual I found at Charterhouse. Have been keeping an eye out for her to get some full body shots but have not seen her again since!
