Posted: 15 Jun 2006 Hi Ljubo, I visited Rhodes (Pefkos and Lindos) in June 2001 and had a great time hunting for herps. Probably the most common species are the Anatolian Rock Lizard (Lacerta anatolica), and the Starred Agama (Laudakia stellio) which you will find pretty much everywhere. I have listed most/all reptiles and amphibians which you may find below: Bufo viridis, Rana ridibunda, Rana cerigensis, Hyla arboria, Mauremys caspica, Cyrtopodion kotschyi, Laudakia stellio, Ablepharus kitaibelii, Chalcides ocellatus, Mabuya aurata, Lacerta danfordi, Lacerta trilineata, Lacerta oertzeni, Blanus strauchi, Typhlops vermicularis, Coluber jugularis, Coluber najadum, Coluber ravergieri, Elaphe situla, Natrix natrix, Telescopus fallax, Montivipera xanthina was found on Rhodes but is now thought to be extinct there. |

Posted: 15 Jun 2006 @ jps1981: mind old taxonomy + ravergieri should be nummifer; caspica should be rivulata. danfordi nor anatolica but oertzeni. no cerigensis @ Ljubo: this should be of interest to you => http://www.herpetofauna.at/berichte/rhodos.php Jeroen Speybroeck http://www.hylawerkgroep.be/jeroen/ |
