Posted: 30 Jan 2006 I live in France (where that red dot is on the little french map), but I do often come back over to England, my family has a house in Grove Park (anyone know it?), I went to Coopers lane... Anyway, when I come over I've always wanted to find some 'british' specimens, because of small differences in colour, as well as that in the S. of France the Adder isn't present, nor the smooth snake. Ok, I wanted to know of the nearest place antone knows to Grove Park (in Lewisham) where I might have a chance on finding Adders. Thank you for any info. Posted: 30 Jan 2006 I've seen that particular text... It's a shame that the Adder is in deminishing over over it's British, and whole range. Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

Posted: 30 Jan 2006 Snakes don't attack people though, only defend themselves... What I don't get is why people kill reptiles... It always seems to be them (the reptiles), never over hunting of sparrows or mice even... I think people who kill reptiles for no good reason are just sad... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |

Posted: 31 Jan 2006 Please check the forum policy regarding posting specific site locations (we don't want too much information on where adders can be found in the public domain). Adder are still fairly abundant in Kent (though in general decline due to development, isolation etc.), perhaps it would be an idea to contact KRAG Daniel if you would like more information on seeing adder in Kent? Posted: 31 Jan 2006 Hi Alan, I know, I just didn't want anyone to post up any specific adder locations as it seemed the thread might be going that way Gemma Fairchild, Independent Ecological Consultant |

Posted: 01 Feb 2006 I don't think there would've been a high amount of rodents for the Adders to feed on, mostly frogs, maybe a few Common Lizards... Dan www.randacumbria.moonfruit.com |
