Posted: 18 Oct 2007 Tony is back in UK untill next Tuesday so we met up today for a stroll around Chobham. First I found one of this years baby berus , but it looked so content we just left it alone . Then we split up and continued searching. Soon I heard Tony screaming franticly "Snake !Eeeek! Help Snake!" I ran to where I heard the screams to see a very nervous looking Tony halfway up a tree pointing at a spot in the heather. Sure enough there was a lovely male in that spot and after much coaxing and promises of an ice cream on the journey home he came down But seriously (Just teasing you mate ) Here's a couple of pics of Tony and the adder he found Cheers, I had a good day Al O-> O+> |

Posted: 18 Oct 2007 nice pics al. lovely snake but i have to admit to being a little disappointed by tony's outfit. at a push i can understand why there's no doublet and hose but i'd have at least expected a feather in the hat! gald you had a good day. is that likely to be it until spring or do you reckon you'll get a couple more in? tim |

Posted: 18 Oct 2007 How jammy you were with the weather. A lovely day it looks from the pix, as we also had in East Devon. Was there a touch of nostalgia for our heathery places from Tony? Suz |

Posted: 27 Oct 2007 Can you suggest the best area in Chobham to look? Im at Silwood park so only about 2 min away. Did a day of tansect surveys last week but was not lucky enough to see a single snake or anything for that matter Jamie |

Posted: 29 Oct 2007 hi Jamie last week was a bit on the cold side for reptiles you will have to be a bit patient and wait till the spring when the days warm up even though the odd exception like an adder or a common lizard might put an appearance on a rare warm winter day Keith LOCAL ICYNICAL CELTIC ECO WARRIOR AND FAILED DRUID |

Posted: 29 Oct 2007 Thanks alot! Yesterday was quite warm and I have often found Grassies in temperatures like that...Have you noticed the strange goings on at Cholbham, by that I mean the copius amounts of dog poo in bags hanging from trees? maybe a Pagan ritual I know nothing about but sure did put a damper on my searching!! |

Also magig moments at my Daughter's 18th - her face was priceless (she did not know dad was coming). Back in SA now greeted by rain and mist but today looks more hopeful. Posted: 31 Oct 2007 Hi Tony, Glad all went well with your daughters birthday, and that you've return to SA safe and sound. I can honestly say that DB is not me , I wonder who it is. Sorry I couldn't make your street theatre, Sarah got home from work quite late that day and by the time the family had eaten it would've been over. Looking forward to next April if you manage to get to UK. Al O-> O+> |

Posted: 01 Nov 2007 Lots of thanks to whoever posted the pix of my dear husband, Tony Phelps, in his part as 'John Aubrey', the narrator of my performance piece of "The Sweet Singers of Israel" for the Mayor of Guildford's Lantern Walk. Doesn't he look a real picture? (You should have seen him about two hours before in a 'standard white hero shirt' and a pair of black tights - Max Wall to the life for those old enough to remember him!) I thought he was very brave to take on this little task for me - four performances in just over over an hour - and he had the most to say (even if he could read it from the book!) The event consisted of 9 pieces of street theatre over a two mile circular walk through Guildford town centre and has so far raised 8,000 pounds and counting for The Fountain Centre, an information and alternative therapy centre for people diagnosed with cancer. I would be grateful if whoever took the photos (and any others you might have taken on the night) could email them to me at dianeweatherwax@yahoo.co.uk (you don't have to reveal your identity), but I would love to have them for my next newsletter for my drama group - The Pranksters Theatre Company - in usual PTC fashion, out of 5 performers, only 2 were actually members of the group. I look forward to receiving the photos. I have just successfully completed one of Tony's venomous snake handling courses in Cape Town - so useful in my work at an examination board!
