Hi

I have been over to Ash Ranges and have seen some adders & grass snakes - though wondered whether spotting smooth snakes
should be done perhaps in a different way? - are their basking requirements the same?

cheers

Probably best to link up with other people on this forum to look for smooth snakes - especially as you need a license to disturb this species in the wild. Surrey ARG members would be happy to help and of course you can approach HCT in order to become a licensed volunteer surveyor for their smooth snake surveys

contact details can be found on www.arg-uk.org.uk
