Posted: 07 Mar 2011 Hi, I saw a group of five lizards today (7 Mar 2011), basking on the wall of a house, deep within Thetford Forest. I presume they are common lizards, but there was a wide variation in colour, including one that was quite green. Am I right in thinking these are all Zootoca vivipara? Thanks 4 pics follow: 2 lizards in same shot (i.e. same camera colour balance) Green: Brown: Tan: Photos (c) copyright Absinthe. |

Posted: 07 Mar 2011 Yep Zootoca vivipara There is a lot of variation in colour, the males generally less drab than the females, we often see very green individuals. Thetford forest is a great site for common lizards and adder, must get over there again some time soon. Gemma Fairchild, Independent Ecological Consultant |
